Additional Statement on Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Story Concerning Military Records

Statement

Date: June 29, 2012
Location: Russellville, AR

Ken Aden, Democratic nominee for U.S. Congress from Arkansas' Third District, issued the following statement in response to a story in Friday's Arkansas Democrat-Gazette:

"Our campaign will have no further comment relating to the stories in the Democrat-Gazette until I have received a full copy of my military records from the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis.

The Democrat Gazette claims to have received various records, including from the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis. Today, they claimed to have received those in three hours. I made my request for those records through normal channels, and anticipate receiving the records soon. I, and not the Democrat-Gazette or any other media outlet, am the only person entitled to my complete military record. What can be released under the Freedom of Information Act to a media outlet is limited by federal law. The Democrat-Gazette knows that, and has failed to state the simple fact that they do not have the complete file."
